Overview
Affectionately known as the Port City, Oswego features a vibrant waterfront and a burgeoning downtown with a blend of history, culture, food and drink, and community events. Approximately 45 minutes from Syracuse and less than 90 minutes from the popular Finger Lakes, Oswego is known for its active fishing season on both Lake Ontario and the Oswego River. Oswego’s roots in the waterfront are maintained to this day, with the H. Lee White Marine Museum, Fort Ontario and Safe Haven Museum connecting residents to history, and the Port of Oswego Authority consistently bustling with new activity.
Summers in Oswego feature a weekly farmers’ market, a free concert series and the annual Harborfest, which draws thousands of visitors. Oswego is also home to thriving public parks both large and small, with runners and walkers enjoying sunset views at Breitbeck Park along the lake and families enjoying playgrounds and fountains at a number of smaller parks tucked into the city’s historic neighborhoods.
